Al Qassim, alimental basket of the Kingdom, located at the heart of the country and almost center of the Arabian Peninsula, Al Qassim is surrounded by Riyadh province in the east and south, Medinah province in the west and Hail province in the north.
Agriculture is the cornerstone of the region’s economy. Al Qassim hosts more than 8 million palm trees, making it one of the largest dates producers in the world.

Except dates other traditional oasis products such as lemons, oranges and other fruits and vegetables are still important. The modern introduction of wheat production has become so successful that Buraidah, capital of the region, is one of the largest producers in the Kingdom, contributing to making Saudi Arabia a net exporter of cereal.

Buraidah also holds biggest annual date market in the world that usually starts in August and lasts up to two months and offers more than 30 varieties.
